Greetings everybody.... I recently was going th...rough some of my personal writings from my early years as a University student of Latin American Studies and I would like share some of these documents and papers with the readers of my books. The following paper was written by me after returning home from Brazil in the early 1980's. Here is just a sample of the what to expect in this new book which is a collection of various writings during my Undergraduate University years..... Sarava
I. INTRODUCTION
The body of literature which comprises the “Jewish mystical tradition is formidable and vast. The meaning of the concepts and terms with which it deals have both provoked and disturbed countless initiates into its mysteries for many centuries. Regardless of its actual significance or validity as an analytical attempt to describe and explain the workings of the “cosmos” – it is without doubt a highly unique intellectual artifact.
In 1958, David Bakan published a book entitled Sigmund Freud and the Jewish Mystical Tradition (D. Van Nostrand Co., Inc., New York) At the direct influence on Freud – an influence which so oriented Freud’s intellect that he was consequently psychologically open to the discovery of the complex psychoanalytic underpinnings of the human psyche.
In this book I am unconcerned with Bakan’s thesis. It is totally irrelevant to the subject under consideration in these pages. I mention Bakan’s thesis with my own. I am not here at all concerned with the question of whether or not Freud was himself in any way personally influenced by the Jewish mystical tradition...................
